World: Poodle Clipped

Keresaspa tells it like it is

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Sorry, people. After the most recent and really depressing post, we had to find something to take our mind off the tragedy, and Tony "T3h P00DL3" Blair obliged so obligingly, we gotta give him two thumbs up! (Up what, we refuse to say.)

The Guardian finds that much of Europe is violently opposed to the idea of Pretzelnitwit McChimpyDunce's favourite lapdog heading the EU. We couldn't agree more! In fact, we hope someone in the U.S. creates a web site much like the European Stop Blair site. That kneepadded lickspittle Tony Bleargh deserves to go down in infamy.

What's the matter, Tony? Your attempts at bringing your own IraqWarLike brand of peace to the Middle East showing the same kind of "success" the Iraq War did?

Glob-a-log Shows Us Tony's Work For MidEast Peace

That fat bank gig that Dimwit McPretzelChimp arranged for you run out of money? What?

We'd really like to know why that pathetic bastard of a war criminal needs another job. His bank job is a part-time advisory gig that pays over $1 million a year. Here's the Times' analysis of the son-of-a-swine's fiscal picture:

Meanwhile, the soldiers he threw into Iraq to suffer injuries and die have a very different financial picture. Here's an excerpt from the Times:
Iraq veteran Colonel Tim Collins discovered after leaving service that he was entitled to compensation for neck and ankle injuries sustained in a parachuting accident. It took him six months to arrange monthly payments of £114.

He said: "This Government mistreats soldiers and wants the cheapest Army it can get. Even the largest payments available to service personnel are barely a living wage.
As for his attempt to polish the stinking turd that is his legacy to the world, The Guardian says, in part:
A "Stop Blair" website run by pro-Europeans has launched a petition against him; a transnational, cross-party caucus in the European parliament is forming to campaign against a Blair presidency; senior officials in Brussels are privately dismissive about the new post going to a Briton; and senior diplomats in European capitals also doubt that Blair is the right person for the post being created under Europe's new reform treaty.

[...]

"But more generally the German political elite would be puzzled by the idea of Tony Blair. His track record on EU matters is not so great. There is unease about a Briton at the top in that job. And then personally with Blair, there's the Iraq thing."

Sources close to Merkel confirmed her opposition. "He made a lot of fine speeches about Europe but, essentially, stood on the sidelines when it came to concrete steps forward," they said.
HAHAHAHA!!! Oh, this is rich! The Europeans are, once again, proving that they actually pay attention to politics, unlike the morons that seem to form the bulk (yes, we do mean bulk) of the American voting public.

World: Slipping Into The Fascist State

Image from ToddAlbert.com

Unlike parodist Jonah Goldberg, we do not throw the term "fascism" around lightly. Like the estimable Dorothy Parker, we would like to throw it aside with great force. Preferably into the rubbish pile of history.

Our dictionary defines fascism as:
NOUN: 1. often Fascism a. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism. b. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government. 2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.
Over in the U.K., Scotland Yard is, presumably at the bequest of the authorities, engaged in electronic eavesdropping of a Labour Party MP whose sole claim to their attentions appears to be a boyhood friendship with an imprisoned constituent who is
accused of running a US-registered website in the late 90's that raised funds for the Taliban and for Chechen militants. He is being held by British authorities pending deportation, although there are no charges against him in that country.
The MP in question, Sadiq Khan, is an activist lawyer who had brought a series of controversial malpractice cases against London police. Khan has campaigned actively against the extradition.

We posit that the actions taken against Khan constitute suppression through terror and censorship, given that the bugging apparently
... violates a long-standing official policy against eavesdropping on members of Parliament.
If there are no charges in the U.S. against the imprisoned constituent Babar Ahmed, why is the British government attempting to deport him? Where are they deporting him? To the U.S.? Have they tried him in a court of law? Of what crimes has he been found guilty?

These questions trouble us. If we are not a nation of laws, if we do not respect our own laws, then what are we?

The movement from democracy and a rule of law to fascism, dictatorship, and a rule of men is a slow slide, not a rapid change. Germans would have risen as one against Hitler if he had immediately proposed a move from a nation grounded in law to a fascist dictatorship. The Munich Beer-Hall Putsch proved that, despite a disillusioned and beaten populace, mass confusion, poverty, and the bleak aftermath of defeat in war, people would not willingly renounce their civil liberties and accept an outright dictator. It took nearly a decade of lies, manoeuvering, chicanery, and an election before the fascistic Nazis could come to power.

We have lived through eight years of rule by an individual with all the mental wherewithal of a shrub. The UK has had his lapdog equivalent in Tony Blair. If we are to halt the slide towards fascism, we - all of us - must speak up and act as best we can.

Iraq - Honest, We Left 'Cos We Wanted To

At least that's what the British are saying. Right here, f'rinstance:
"By the end of August, there will be no presence for British forces at the palace or at the joint coordination center. Both will be in the hands of the Iraqi government," says the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter. "I think it's best if they leave, because they did nothing to stop the militias, which were formed in the womb of their occupation." A spokesman for the British military in Basra confirmed that a small force left the Provincial Joint Coordination Center (PJCC), site of a British-Iraqi security task force, Saturday.

[...]

Unlike their US counterparts elsewhere in Iraq, British forces have been gradually trimming their presence in the south since May 2003, when they numbered 18,000.
Steve Gilliard would've made it all so clear. I can't fill his shoes. But basically what this means is, the British are out of Basra. Either the U.S will have to send military reinforcements there, or our supply lines and retreat pathway (out of Kuwait) are totally fucked. If your kids/family are there, please, please, please to God, beat your Congresscritter senseless till they agree to bring your family out. It is not good. Not good at all.

Politics - Blair the Poodle Knew

Image from Bartcop?

Tony Blair knew that The Idiot Child had no plan whatsoever for the Iraq war, yet he committed troops anyway! So says the Guardian on the basis of revelations by key aides of Blair. Gods, I hope the British public roasts him alive for this. To send other people's relatives to danger and death based on bullshit??? Unconscionable!

Update: Well, well, well. It appears that the House of Lords will hold an inquiry into the foofaraw after all. Let's hope they find Tony and his cronies guilty of war crimes and hang him by the neck till he is dead. How immoral is that, to know that you are entrusting the lives of people who trust in you into the hands of a psychopathic dry drunk of limited wit and perverse malignity? And he did it even though Commander von Bunnypants told him his military was not needed. Evil. These people are evil. What bought you, Tony? What was your price, man? Did he promise you the running of the World Bank, or a posh private estate near the Paraguayan aquifer? You made a deal with the devil, Tony, and I hope it burns you. As badly as some of those poor Iraqi children whose blood is on your hands.
