Health - HIV Drug Pulled Off Market

From the Times Online comes the news that Roche has pulled their HIV drug, Viracept, off the market.
Patients who take Viracept, an antiretroviral drug, should contact their doctors immediately, health officials advised.

The Medicines and Health-care products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and European regulators said that batches of Viracept across the European Union had been tainted by a “genotoxic”, or potentially cancer-causing chemical.
I tried looking for information about Viracept in the U.S., but I haven't found any warnings. Admittedly, the article is from June of this year, and is largely directed at HIV+ patients in Europe, but given the state of the regulatory bodies monitoring U.S. food and drugs, I'm not feeling too optimistic.

In other optimisim-inducing news, Bush administration tool and official health spokesman Dr. Anthony Fauci recently announced that the world was losing the fight against AIDS.
