Entertainment: Incivil Parrot

As a member of the Bloggers' Incivility Brigade, we feel obliged to keep track of incivility everywhere. Therefore, it brings us great pleasure to present, for your entertainment, Barney, a five-year-old macaw who is a guest at the Warwickshire Animal Sanctuary at Nuneaton.

According to the Ananova article, Barney's choice of language when a distinguished roster of visitors toured the sanctuary have led to his temporarily being, um, rehoused. Among other things the uncivil squawker is alleged to have said:
He told the mayor to: "F*** off," before turning to a woman vicar and saying: "You can f*** off too", reports the Guardian.

Sanctuary owner, Geoff Grewcock, said: "To their credit they didn't take offence and laughed it off - and luckily so did two policemen who were told: "And you can f*** off, you w***ers."

[...]

Mr Grewcock is now attempting a cultural reversal by keeping Barney alone in a special cage listening to Radio 4.

"It isn't really working yet but he is a very funny parrot, with a lot of character, and he does say thank you whenever you give him a treat."
Well, there you are. His incivility hasn't caused any diminution of his charm. If nothing else, it gives him a certain ... je ne sais quoi.
