Tibit about Rufus Wainwright's concert
In today's SF Chronicle, Leah Garchick adds a tidbit to my report about Rufus Wainwright's concert on Friday:
Carrie Fisher brought her daughter, Billie, to see Rufus Wainwright's show at the Masonic Auditorium on Friday. The opening act was Sean Lennon's band, which includes guitarist Harper Simon, son of Paul Simon, and for a time, stepson of Carrie. Violinist Petra Haden, bassist Charlie Haden's daughter, is also in Lennon's band.See my original post here.
So after the show, the gang - including the band and Wainwright - went to Denton's Starlight Room at the Sir Francis Drake. But Billie's only 15, so she wasn't allowed in. Simon and Lennon wouldn't go in without her, so a small group that included Fisher, Lennon and Simon created an after-party annex in the lobby of the Drake, where a spy tells me the new bar stayed open an hour past its usual midnight closing to accommodate its guests.
Labels: Charlie Haden, Paul Simon, Rufus Wainwright, Sean Lennon
