Of course, there's also current jailbird Duke Cunningham, and it's quite likely that Ted Stevens, John Doolittle, Tom Feeney, Jerry Lewis and Don Young will be joining ol' Duke sometime soon. I'm actually sorry Chuck Hagel is leaving. I don't agree with his politics, but I have nothing but respect for the man.

Kay BH is quite another kettle of stinking fish, though. Dallas News announces that, unfortunately, she plans to run for governor of Texas (what a blow to the legacy of the wonderful Ann Richards. At any rate, ol' Kay will be stepping down in 2009, to

... give someone else a chance to start building seniority before the class of 2013 ...

as she puts it. Which means, of course, that if she wins the governorship, she gets to appoint her own replacement.

Doesn't that sound kind of crooked to you?
