Science - Memory, Marijuana, and Happy
Volume 168 of Science News reports that experiments conducted at the University of Saskatchewan have shown that marijuana and a drug that stimulates the same receptors in the hippocampus a hundred times more strongly have been shown to reduce anxiety and depressionlike behaviour in rats.
Shoot, they could have just ASKED some of the anxious, depressed ex-pot smokers who spent a few years in a happy fog and are now forced to ask their doctors (if they have any) for Welbutrin and Prozac and Lexapro and such, now that their happy-fog-makers are on the wrong side of the law. Oh, yeah, I forgot - they also appear to spur neurogenesis, causing the brain to grow new nerve cells.
