Human Rights - Pentagon Reveals New Depths of Gall

Say WHAAT? From PageOneQ, your source of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transexual, and plain ol' QUEER news, comes the "Why Am I Surprised?" announcement that just because the military kicks you out for being queer doesn't mean you can't still serve your country.
[...] lesbian and gay military personnel who are discharged under the Don't Ask, Don't Tell law are qualified to continue to serve the nation. A copy of the Pentagon policy, included in a statement released by the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, now states, "These separated members have the opportunity to continue to serve their nation and national security by putting their abilities to use by way of civilian employment with other Federal agencies, the Department of Defense, or in the private sector, such as with a government contractor.”
That's one of those jaw-droppingly "WHAAAA?" statements that leaves you flapping your lower lip with a hummana-hummana-hummana. I'm not sure if it says more about the privatization of the military or the rank hypocrisy of the Powers That Be. PageOneQ tries to see it in a positive light, to their credit, but tell me the military, after kicking out many servicepeeps who had the right background, Arabic language skills, translation expertise, cultural knowledge ad infinitum ad nauseam, is telling said kickees to what, swab out toilets at the DoD? What?
