Health Care: Nataline Sarkisyan

More on the case of the callously-killed Sarkisyan child.

Over at DailyKos, Eve Gittelson, blogging as nyceve, has some more details on the case of Nataline Sarkisyan. Including action items. If you're pretty immobile, as certain political cats are (gimpy leg, y'know), here's a way to do something without having to drag your nonfunctioning bits out onto the stage. nyceve suggests you get in touch with the L.A. County D.A.'s office and demand that they file charges against the executives of CIGNA for denying life to Nataline Sarkisyan.

Interesting. Not a peep from the so-called "right-to-life" crowd, whose manic howls were heard around the world when Terry Schiaivo was ready to be put out of her misery. The same people who rushed to her Florida hospice to prevent her from dying in peace are all hiding and quiet now that somebody who really could've used a shot at life lost hers.

If you're wondering why ThePoliticalCat is so all-fired-up on this issue - we lost a sibling many years ago to an insidious form of leukemia. It's terrible when a child dies before their parents. It's terrible to see your parents lose control of themselves, and cry their hearts out. And it's never over. Our parental units still - five decades later - cry over their dead child.

Nataline Sarkisyan's death was preventable. It was not prevented because CIGNA did not want to pay the cost of her care. Apparently, the right-to-lifers only want to save fetii. Once the fetii are born and are real human children, RTLs could care less if they have health insurance, if that insurance gives them any real coverage, or if their insurers condemn them to an early, unnecessary death.
